11/30/2023 0 Comments Ephemeral storage aws![]() Data-intensive applications require large amounts of temporary data specific to the invocation or cached data that can be reused for all invocation in the same execution environment in a highly performant manner. However, extract, transform, and load (ETL) jobs and content generation workflows such as creating PDF files or media transcoding require fast, scalable local storage to process large amounts of data quickly. While AWS Lambda includes a 512 MB temporary file system ( /tmp) for your code, this is an ephemeral scratch resource not intended for durable storage such as Amazon Elastic File System (Amazon EFS). Serverless applications are event-driven, using ephemeral compute functions ranging from web APIs, mobile backends, and streaming analytics to data processing stages in machine learning (ML) and high-performance applications. Note: For tasks that are associated with service, update the service by selecting a new task definition revision.Update J– The Available Now section below has been edited for clarity to ensure the best experience for our readers. Run the task using your updated task definition. The sourceVolume is the name of your volume as defined in step 4.Ħ. Note: The containerPath is the path inside the container where you mount the volume. "containerPath": "/mount/path/inside/container", Use a container definitions section to create a mount point for the volume inside your container. Note: Replace fs-12345678 with your file system ID.ĥ. Create or update a task definition to configure a volume for the Amazon ECS task that has your Amazon EFS file system. Note the file system ID of your file system (for example, fs-12345678).Ĥ. Select all the Availability Zones where the VPC subnets for the Fargate service are located.ģ. Note: By default, a mount target is configured in each Availability Zone in a given AWS Region. Create an Amazon EFS file system, and then attach the security group from step 1 to your mount targets. Then, add an inbound rule to accept NFS traffic on port 2049 from the source's task security group.Ģ. Create a security group for your Amazon EFS mount targets. Configuring storage with Amazon EFS volumesġ. Note: If you receive errors when running AWS Command Line Interface (AWS CLI) commands, make sure that you’re using the most recent AWS CLI version.įor more examples of configuring ephemeral storage, see Bind mount examples. ![]() Important: When you create an Amazon EFS volume, use the same Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC) and subnets that are assigned to your Fargate service. ![]() Amazon EFS volumes provide persistent storage. Use Amazon Elastic File System (Amazon EFS) volumes for scalable file storage.Ephemeral storage is non-persistent storage. ![]()
